Why the torch head of CNC plasma cutting machine does not arc

1. The input air pressure is too high: If the input air pressure is greater than 0.45MPa, the air flow with excessive pressure after forming the plasma arc will blow away the concentrated arc column, causing the arc column energy to disperse and weakening the cutting strength of the CNC plasma cutting machine.
The main reasons for excessive air pressure are: improper adjustment of the air compressor, excessive adjustment of the air filter pressure reducing valve, or malfunction of the air filter pressure reducing valve.

Solution:

Check whether the pressure adjustment of the air compressor is properly adjusted, and determine whether the pressure of the air compressor is consistent with the pressure of the air filter pressure reducing valve? Adjust the adjustment switch of the air filter pressure reducing valve when the air compressor is running.

2. The input air pressure is too low:

When the CNC plasma cutting machine is working, if the input air pressure is far lower than the air pressure required by the equipment, this will weaken the ejection speed of the plasma arc. If the input air flow rate is less than the specified value, it will not be able to form a high-energy, high-speed plasma arc. , thus causing problems such as poor incision quality, incomplete cutting, and slag accumulation.

Solution:

Before cutting, you should pay attention to check the output pressure display of the air compressor. If it does not meet the requirements, you should adjust the pressure setting or overhaul the air compressor. If the input air pressure requires, you should check whether the pressure adjustment of the air filter pressure reducing valve is correct and whether the pressure display of the air pressure gauge can meet the cutting requirements. Otherwise, the air filter pressure reducing valve should be maintained to ensure that the input air is dry and free of oil.

3. Poor ground contact:

The grounding wire is an essential preparation for CNC cutting machine work. Failure to use special grounding tools, insulation on the surface of the workpiece, or aging of the ground wire will all lead to poor ground wire contact.

Solution:

Use a special grounding wire tool and check whether the grounding wire is in good contact with the workpiece. Do not use aging grounding wires.

4. The cutting nozzle and electrode are damaged:

If the cutting nozzle is improperly installed, not tightened, or the water-cooled cutting torch is not connected to the cooling system, the loss of the cutting nozzle will be increased.

Solution:

Adjust the equipment to the correct gear according to the relevant parameters of the cutting workpiece, and check whether CNC plasma  cutting machine torch and cutting nozzle are firmly installed; water-cooled cutting torches should circulate cooling water in advance.
